First of all, for audience recognition and star appeal, the lead singer of Arctic Monkeys; Alex Turner is pictured performing at a live show, with his face captured clearly by the camera. This image itself will promote the album as an audience can instantly recognise Alex as an iconic figure, which establishes what to expect from the product and will entice people to buy it. Due to the fact that the image is also Alex performing at a live gig, this may make an audience feel as though they are involving themselves within this scene when buying the product, being able to listen to what the live audience is listening to in the image.
Although there is a picture of the star here, the bands name stands out the most through the use of extremely large, bold, blocky white text which contrasts greatly with the black, smokey background. This feature itself creates mass audience appeal as the name of the band will catch fans attention, as well as bring several in. The image may assist in bringing a new audience in, due to the fact that Alex is seen dressed in black skinny jeans with an overall Indie Rock conventional image, (assisted by his cocky, quirky pose which reflects the attitude of the band and sub-genre) Indie Rock fans can recognise these features and may be enticed to try consuming media produced by the Arctic Monkeys.
The inclusion of the white text at the bottom of the poster against a jet black background this time continues the theme of standing out on the page, and creates a definite source of information on the title of the album for reference, and its release date which enables an audience to understand when they will be able to start consuming the media. The inclusion of the institution is a conventional feature on promotional posters as it gives the institutions involved credit for their work on production and the publishing of the album.
Hit tracks and singles from the album are not enclosed on the album cover for appeal to a wider audience, which is unconventional of a promotional poster. This gives off the impression that the name of the band alone can entice an audience to purchase the album.
